American Public Media Names Douglas Evans General Manager of Classical South Florida—89.7 FM, WKCP
(St. Paul, Minn.) February 7, 2008—American Public Media™ today announced that longtime arts and culture executive and advocate Douglas Evans has been named General Manager of Classical South Florida—89.7 FM, WKCP.
As general manager, Evans will be responsible for overseeing all of Classical South Florida's operations, including serving as primary liaison to the south Florida community, arts organizations and partners, Classical South Florida members, and other groups. With the assistance of Gayle Ober, director of classical music programming for American Public Media, Evans will develop opportunities for Classical South Florida to grow and to best serve audiences.
Evans, a Boca Raton resident, has more than 20 years of executive management experience with arts and cultural organizations. Most recently, Evans was chairman and CEO of Luftig Evans Non-Profit Solutions, LLC, a firm that specializes in nonprofit startups; program planning for regional theaters, performing arts centers, and community-based local arts organizations; and fundraising. Prior to founding Luftig Evans, he was chief operating officer of Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment and president of Broadway China Ventures. Evans held other executive management positions with the Stamford Center for the Arts, Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism, The Globe Theaters, The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts and Embassy Theater Foundation.
Evans is involved with several arts and culture advocacy organizations, including as a current board member of the Theater League of South Florida and The League of American Theaters and Producers, and is a founder of The Independent Presenters Network.
