A New Public Media

American Public Media understands that the challenges facing media and the opportunities presented by new digital platforms mean we must create a new standard for the free access and flow of information, ideas, and cultural insight in the United States.

We see the existing public broadcasting infrastructure as the crucial building block toward that goal and recognize that, as the ways our communities consume information change, the role we play in our communities must change as well.

  •  A New Public Media is a step toward re-energizing public broadcasters in their communities and forwarding a sustainable vision for public media — and for journalism in the public interest — in this country.

You can read more about APM's vision for the future of public media in Joaquin Alvarado's guest article in Current, the newspaper and website about public TV and radio in the United States or download a copy of the article for reference.
