| Description: | Schedule: 12am -8:30, M-F The Marketplace Morning Report (MMR) Overnight Producer is in charge of Marketplace during the overnight hours. S/he is responsible for the production of 7 timely/informative nat'l broadcasts, all w/the unique Marketplace sound & style. S/he will be the architect of the daily program: responsible for compiling fresh spot news, quick-turn around live interviews & pre-recorded spots into cohesive, newsworthy broadcasts. S/he will be responsible for overseeing all production during the overnight hours, including the flow & order of every cast, ensuring that MMR is up to the second or looking forward to the day ahead w/the latest business and economic news and that MMR presents that news creatively, with flair. S/he must be a "go getter", an aggressive producer who can handle many tasks at once; S/he must be able to lead the overnight team in these endeavors. S/He substitutes for the Sr. Producer as needed & participates in all creative aspects of the program. - Serves as key decision-maker on overnights for shape/sound of MMR - Serves as final authority during key overnight on-air production cycle for morning report & on all decisions relating to all three Marketplace programs during overnight hours - Produces 7 distinct, differentiated national broadcasts daily. - Serves a key information resource on business and economics issues. - Generates daily & short-term assignments for others. - Manages cast of regular interviewees & generates new sources/regular contributors wherever needed with emphasis on Asia and Europe - Identifies compelling/knowledge interviewees & produces quick-turnaround interviews, some audio editing of interviews Req's: - BA or equivalent exp - Min 5 yrs journalism exp - Knowledge of business and economics - Strong leadership skills; the successful candidate will be in charge of all decisions and actions during the overnight hours. - Ability to successfully meet hourly deadlines |
