| Description: | This position is part time, 20 hours per week. The Associate Producer assists with the planning, production and execution of the daily radio program, Patt Morrison, & provides other support for the News department. The Associate Producer initiates story & segment ideas & concepts, & participates in all creative aspects of the program. The Associate Producer is also responsible for arranging interviews, writing and editing on-air copy, & helping plan future series and special themed programs. This position serves at times as the Director of the program, & will fill-in for the Producer on an as-needed basis. Duties: - Propose and research story/segment ideas for program. - Propose, locate, pre-interview, and evaluate guests; book guests & confirm bookings. - Conduct background research and provide host with materials for broadcast. - Write & edit copy & continuity as required; edit audio for broadcast. - Direct daily program as needed, produce rundown for host & operations staff, screen callers, and modify program rundown as news events warrant. - Maintain relationship with technical staff, audio engineers & other departments. - Coordinate special projects. - Work with editors, reporters & operations staff to coordinate content of, and produce, special programming, including remote broadcasts and other special programs. Req's: - Bachelors Degree or equiv. experience. - Two or more years broadcast journalism experience. - Experience in radio news production, especially talk shows and call-in programs. - Digital audio editing experience. - Ability to maintain high journalistic standards under deadline pressure, including standards of objectivity, balance and fairness. - Excellent knowledge of & exper. in journalism, including writing, interviewing, and editing. - Exc. writing & communication skills.
