| Description: | This internship is part time, 16-30 hrs per week, and UNPAID. Length of internship is approx August - December 2009. The Intern, End User Computing position works under the direction of the manager of End User Computing (EUC). The EUC group is responsible for supporting, buying, configuring, and distributing desktop and laptop computers for Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) and American Public Media (APM) at our headquarters in downtown St. Paul. The intern will be introduced to corporate computing management concepts, including Active Directory and Group Policy Objects. Position Responsibility: - Installing standard configurations onto MPR computers using Windows Imaging (WIM) format and Microsoft's ImageX utility. Assisting with the installation of software applications. - Support of staff in moving, deploying and correctly disposing of company computers and computer equipment. - Assisting with support of general office applications such as Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer. - Some hardware repair, upgrading and troubleshooting of personal computer hardware and peripherals. - Other duties and responsibilities as directed. Required Education and Experience: Current participation in educational program related Personal Computer Support or Information Technology. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: - Good communications and customer service skills - Interest in learning more about client computer support in a corporate setting - Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines - Ability to work efficiently with limited direct supervision - Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential component of the job Preferred Skills and Experience: Previous experience in taking support calls from personal computer users is helpful. |
